SRINAGAR: In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, Police in Anantnag have attached a single-storied residential house worth ₹70 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Rasool Sheikh, resident of Gopalpora Kalan. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.

The property attachment is linked to FIR No. 86/2023, registered under sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act, following investigations that established its use in drug trafficking activities. Further investigations are underway to trace other associates linked to the accused.

The arrested notorious drug peddler Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh is a habitual offender with a history of involvement in multiple narcotics cases. This action underscores J&K Police’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and ensuring that those involved in such crimes face the full force of the law.

J&K Police remains steadfast in its mission to combat drug abuse and trafficking, working tirelessly to safeguard the youth and protect the community from the harmful impact of narcotics.
