SHOPIAN: In a continued effort to combat drug abuse and spread awareness among youth, J&K Police in coordination with the District Administration Shopian kick started Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan awareness programme across the district, with main function held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Shopian and Government Higher Secondary School Heerpora today. MLA Zainapora Showkat Ahmad Ganaie presides over main function alongside DM and SSP Shopian.

The programme witnessed active participation from students, teaching staff and Senior officers from Police and Civil Administration. The initiative aimed to educate young minds about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

During the session, speakers highlighted the growing menace of substance abuse and its adverse impact on individuals, families and society at large. Students were sensitized about the legal consequences of drug-related activities and were encouraged to act as ambassadors of change by spreading awareness within their communities. Interactive sessions were also held where students actively engaged with the officials and shared their views and concerns.

Police reiterated its commitment to continue such awareness drives under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan to build a safer and healthier society.  In a strong concluding message, participants were urged to say “Yes to Life, No to Drugs” and to join hands in building a drug-free society.
