AWANTIPORA: In continuation of its sustained efforts to eradicate drug abuse and promote a healthy society, Police in Awantipora organised an awareness meeting at Police Station Tral under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, with active participation of Imams and Molvis from the area.

During the meeting, participants were sensitised about the growing menace of drug abuse and its serious repercussions on society, particularly among the youth. The discussion emphasised the urgent need for a coordinated and community-driven approach to effectively tackle the issue.

Police highlighted the crucial role of religious preachers in shaping societal values and guiding the youth. They were urged to utilise religious gatherings and platforms, including religious sermons, to spread awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse and to actively discourage such practices within their communities. The religious preachers assured that they will actively raise awareness among the public during sermons and other religious congregations, educating people about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of a healthy, drug-free society.

The participants appreciated the efforts of Police and assured their full cooperation in supporting the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan by spreading awareness and encouraging community participation. Police reiterates its commitment towards eliminating the menace of drugs and appeals to the general public to come forward, share information regarding drug-related activities, and join hands in building a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.
