BUDGAM: Under the supervision of SSP Budgam Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Police in Budgam organized an awareness programme on the New Criminal Laws (NCLs) at Police Station Khansahib.

The programme was chaired by SHO PS Khansahib DySP (Prob.) Smriti Sharma and was accompanied by SI Aijaz Ahmad. The event witnessed the participation of respected citizens, community representatives, members of the traders’ federation, members of Auqaf Committees, and other officers/officials of Police Station Khansahib.

During the session, police officers elaborated on the key features of the new criminal laws, emphasizing the replacement of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC), and the Indian Evidence Act.

They highlighted that the newly introduced laws are victim-centric, focusing on delivering speedy justice to victims and ensuring swift punishment for offenders. The officers also briefed attendees on progressive provisions such as the registration of Zero FIRs and e-FIRs, underscoring the digital and accessible nature of the reformed legal framework.

The participants actively engaged in the interactive session, raising pertinent questions and seeking clarifications regarding the practical implementation of the new laws. Police remains committed to spreading legal awareness and ensuring that citizens are well-informed and prepared for the transition to these significant legal reforms.
