BUDGAM: Police in Budgam have organized an awareness programme on new criminal laws (NCLs) at Townhall Khansahib. This program aimed to publicize and enable a better understanding of the three laws (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam) among the youth and general masses.

The programme was chaired by SHO Police Station Khansahib. The event was attended by respectable citizens, community representatives, members of trader’s federation, members of Auqaf committees and other police officers/officials of Police Station Khansahib were also present on the occasion.

While addressing the participants police officers explained key aspects of New Criminal Laws, highlighting the replacement of IPC, Cr.PC and Evidence Act with new criminal laws. The participants also got familiarized that new criminal laws are victim centric and aim to ensure speedy Justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders. They also shed light on the provision for registering Zero FIRs and e-FIRs, etc.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, asking questions, and seeking clarifications on the new legal provisions related issues. J&K Police remains committed to spreading awareness and ensuring that citizens are well-informed about these legal reforms.
