ANANTNAG: To strengthen the fight against substance abuse among youth, Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Anantnag, in collaboration with the Education Department Anantnag, organized an awareness rally. The rally was part of a broader campaign to promote healthy, active, and substance-free lifestyles among students.

Massive participation was witnessed from students, teachers, educationists, and officials representing both departments in the rally. Holding banners, placards and slogans promoting a drug-free culture, participants marched through key areas of Anantnag to raise awareness about the growing threat of drug abuse, and the urgent need for preventive education and community involvement.

Earlier, the event commenced with motivational addresses by key officials from the Youth Services & Sports and the Education departments. Speakers emphasized that the initiative was not only about curbing substance abuse but also about cultivating a generation of mentally strong, physically fit, and socially responsible individuals. They highlighted how sports, fitness and co-curricular engagement can play a transformative role in keeping youth away from harmful influences.

A notable highlight of the rally was the Anti-Drug Pledge, taken in unison by hundreds of students, symbolizing their commitment to leading a drug-free life and encouraging peers to do the same. The collective oath resonated with the core objectives of the campaign viz. empowerment, awareness and community action.
