JAMMU: In a moment of pride for Jammu & Kashmir and India, para judoka Anshuman Sharma has been selected for the prestigious IOCL Divya Shakti Para-Athlete Scheme, a national initiative recognizing the grit and excellence of India’s para-athletes. Competing in the J1 category (totally blind), Anshuman’s journey is a shining example of resilience and determination.

With a rich haul of one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the National Games, Anshuman also raised the tricolor on the global stage by representing India at the World Para Judo Championship 2025 in Astana, Kazakhstan. His consistent excellence has now earned him the support of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) through an annual grant of ₹3.5 lakh, enabling him to pursue greater milestones in his athletic journey.

Anshuman humbly dedicates this achievement to his mentor and chief coach, Shri Suraj Bhan Singh Ji of the J&K Sports Council, whose tireless guidance has been instrumental in shaping his success.

“This recognition is not just mine,” Anshuman shared emotionally. “It belongs to my coach, my family, and everyone who believed in me when the path was tough.”

The IOCL Divya Shakti scheme continues to uplift para-athletes across the country, and Anshuman Sharma stands today as a beacon of inspiration—proving that no limitation can dim the light of true passion and perseverance.
