SAMBA: Government Degree College Vijaypur organised screening of documentary on drug addiction under the flagship banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event was conducted under the supervision of the College Principal Dr. Ashu Vashisht. The event commenced with the welcome address by Nodal Officer  Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat. He noted that drug abuse has led to a detrimental impact on the society including increase in the crime rate in the country. The documentary aimed at creating awareness among the students and local people about the impact of drugs on emotional, mental and social health.

The documentary screened helped the students to understand that drug addiction can have serious consequences for the individual and society as a whole, while on individual level drugs can damage physical health, including organ damage, infectious diseases, and overdose fatalities. Only a collective approach from lawmakers, educators, community leaders, and individuals themselves can combat drug addiction.

The Principal of the college Dr. Ashu Vashisht briefed the students that the aim of organising such events is to aware them about the consequences of drug use. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Anjana Raina (Lecturer, Political Science). The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, Nodal Officer, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and co-coordinated by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Prof. Anita Jamwal, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, Prof. Meetu Sharma, Dr. GunjeetMahiwal, Dr. Anjana Raina and Prof Madhu Bala.
