GANDERBAL: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) – 2026, marked six years of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 by organizing an invited talk cum interactive session on “Digital Pedagogy for Future-Ready Education: Realising the Vision of NEP-2020”.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Amit Gautam, Professor, Department of School and Non-Formal Education and Director, MMTTC, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Haribhau Bhapkar, Head Deptt of Mathematics, introduced his distinctive “BABY-MAA” pedagogy—Brainstorming Experiments- Brilliant Inference, Mathematical Acumen, and Application, designed to foster creativity, problem-solving, and experiential learning. He stressed that classrooms should evolve into incubation centers, where ideas are transformed into tangible outcomes such as research papers, IPRs, and startups. “Education is the best startup India forgot to build,” he remarked.

In his special address, Prof. Syed Zahoor Geelani, Director DIQA and Head, Department of Education, traced CUKashmir’s role in NEP implementation, noting its pioneering contributions to curriculum innovation, Indian Knowledge Systems, and outcome-based learning.

In his lecture, Prof. Gautam emphasized the centrality of digital pedagogy in realizing the vision of NEP‑2020, which aims to position India as a global knowledge superpower. He urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to the policy’s implementation, stressing that knowledge learner technology must become the core pillar of education. He explained that digital pedagogy means teaching differently, integrating ICT with classroom practices, and moving beyond traditional methods to meet global competencies and learner needs.

Highlighting the short attention span of today’s tech-savvy generation, he called for experiential, engaging, and involving content. He underlined that digital transformation is a fundamental requirement, with teachers evolving into digital content creators and architects of higher learning experiences. He concluded with a reminder: “Technology will not replace teachers, but technology in the hands of great teachers will be transformational.” The event concluded with a Q&A session. Dr. Firdous Sofal, Asst Prof. Deptt of Education conducted the proceedings and also proposed the vote of thanks.
