• Marks ‘World Hypertension Day’ with awareness drive

SHOPIAN: In a dedicated effort to promote preventive healthcare and holistic wellness, Ayush Department Shopian today conducted two school health check-up camps and a special awareness program on the occasion of ‘World Hypertension Day.’ These initiatives were held on the directions of the Director Ayush J&K, Dr. Nuzhat Bashir Shah.

The school health camps were successfully organized in the district, one by AHWC Wachie, and the other jointly by AHWC Khurampora and AHWC Trenz. During these camps, students underwent comprehensive health check-ups including general physical examinations, Hemoglobin testing, oral hygiene assessments, and nutritional evaluations.

In addition, interactive health education sessions were conducted to sensitize students about personal hygiene, balanced nutrition and the importance of preventive healthcare. In a parallel initiative to commemorate ‘World Hypertension Day,’ a health awareness camp was held at AHWC Keegam, where 43 patients were screened for high blood pressure.

The program focused on lifestyle modifications essential for managing and preventing hypertension, such as a low-salt diet, regular physical activity, adequate hydration, and stress management. The event also featured a special yoga session conducted by Yoga Instructor showcasing yoga’s benefits in controlling blood pressure and promoting mental well-being.
