SOPORE: In continuation of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, Police in Sopore facilitated and supported a series of awareness events across Police District Sopore to combat drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among youth.

To spread the message of “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”, a Cross-Country Race was organised from MRF Chowk to Apex Public School Mazbugh Sopore, in which hundreds of students and faculty members participated enthusiastically. Participants carried anti-drug placards and pledged to stay away from substance abuse. Police extended necessary support for the smooth conduct of the event.

Moreover, anti-drug rally under the campaign was also organised from Tehsil Office Bomai to Goripora, witnessing active participation from students of Boys Middle School Bomai and Eagle Public School Bomai. Officials from the Education, Rural Development, and Revenue Departments also joined the programme, reflecting strong inter-departmental coordination against the drug menace.

Further, a drug awareness programme was conducted at Yousfia English Medium School Dangiwacha, where students, teachers and civil society members were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse, peer pressure and the importance of mental well-being. Another awareness programme was organised at Brandub Rafiabad in collaboration with the Rural Development, Education and Social Welfare Departments, focusing on community participation and collective responsibility in eradicating the drug menace from society.

Police reiterated that alongside strict enforcement against drug trafficking, sustained awareness, prevention, counselling and community outreach remain key pillars of the strategy under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
