HYDERABAD: Students of The Hyderabad Public School (HPS) participated in the 58thRound Square International Conference (RSIC) 2026, hosted by Barker College, Australia, gaining an enriching international experience centred on cultural exchange, leadership, collaboration and global citizenship. The conference brought together students from across the world, providing a platform to exchange ideas, engage with diverse perspectives and build friendships that transcend geographical and cultural boundaries.

The conference offered students opportunities to engage with the six Round Square IDEALS of Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service. Through an engaging opening ceremony, inspiring keynote addresses and interactive Baraza sessions, students explored the importance of cross-cultural understanding, shared responsibility and collaborative problem-solving. These experiences encouraged them to reflect on their roles as responsible global citizens and develop a broader understanding of the world around them.

A key highlight of the conference was the Sydney Urban Challenge, which tested students’ teamwork, decision-making, navigation and budgeting skills as they explored the city using different modes of public transport. The activity encouraged independent thinking, adaptability and effective collaboration in an unfamiliar environment. Students also participated in a clothes-sorting initiative that underscored the importance of sustainability and community service. A challenging trek further offered insights into Australia's conservation efforts, reinforcing the need to protect natural environments through responsible action.

The cultural evening and Baraza talent shows provided students with opportunities to celebrate their individual identities, showcase their creativity and appreciate the rich diversity represented by the participating schools. These interactions fostered a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect, while allowing students to discover common ground through music, performance, storytelling and shared experiences.

The learning journey extended beyond the conference to Cairns, where students explored Australia’s distinctive natural landscapes and biodiversity. Their experiences included discovering the Kuranda rainforest, learning about Indigenous Australian culture and encountering native wildlife. A visit to the Great Barrier Reef offered a closer understanding of marine ecosystems, coral diversity and the importance of conservation. These immersive experiences brought environmental learning to life, highlighting the need to preserve fragile ecosystems and protect the planet’s natural heritage.

RSIC 2026 served as more than an international conference; it was a journey of personal growth, experiential learning and meaningful engagement with the world. By stepping beyond familiar surroundings, students developed greater independence, adaptability and confidence while learning to appreciate diverse viewpoints and collaborate across cultural boundaries. The experience also reinforced the importance of leadership rooted in empathy, service and a commitment to collective progress.

The Hyderabad Public School provides its students with opportunities to participate in such prestigious international Conferences. Such experiences empower students to broaden their horizons, develop leadership skills and become confident, globally minded individuals.

As the HPS delegation returns with cherished memories, lasting friendships and valuable life lessons, the experience stands as a reflection of the school’s commitment to learning beyond the classroom and preparing students to engage meaningfully with an increasingly interconnected world. The conference reinforced the enduring values of global citizenship, responsible leadership and service, encouraging students to carry these lessons into their academic journeys and future endeavours.
