UDHAMPUR:  Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today conducted an extensive visit to the damaged stretch of National Highway (NH-44) at Thard to review the pace of ongoing restoration works and regulation of traffic movement. The Div Com was accompanied by IGP Traffic, Regional Officer NHAI, SSP Udhampur, SSP Traffic NHW, Additional District Development Commissioner along with other officers from the civil Administration, Police and NHAI.

During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner took stock of the progress of restoration works, which include road widening, laying of Water Bound Macadam (WBM), construction of an additional lane for smooth vehicular movement and restoration of the second tube of NH-44. He was also informed about the prevailing single-lane traffic management along the stretch.

The Div Com personally monitored the traffic movement and directed NHAI authorities to expedite the restoration process for the convenience of commuters and the general public. He enquired about the daily vehicular flow on NH-44 and instructed the concerned officers to create an additional lane by filling with stone to ensure smooth passage of vehicles.

The Div Com directed NHAI to double their efforts to restore the 300-metre affected stretch on priority and maintain uninterrupted flow of traffic on a daily basis. He also asked the Traffic Department to strictly regulate traffic movement on NH-44. He further instructed the executing agencies to mobilize adequate men and machinery to ensure timely completion of the works.
