Lieutenant Governor unveils the teaser of Basohli Utsav-2025

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today unveiled the teaser and the brochure for the forthcoming Basohli Utsav-2025, at Raj Bhawan. The Lieutenant Governor congratulated and extended his best wishes to the Administration; Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA), Vishwasthali organisation and other stakeholders associated with Basohli Utsav for their collective endeavour to celebrate the unique creative traditions of Basohli and historical heritage of the region.

The 3rd edition of 'Basohli Utsav' is scheduled to be held from 28 September to 02 October 2025. This year's event will focus on the traditions of the Ramayana. The festival will feature Ramayana-themed exhibitions and booklets; Folk arts Exhibitions, National competitions of folk dance and singing, Local sports competition and a host of art and cultural activities. The mega event will also honour local folk artists, artisans and litterateurs.

Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Shri Shakti Kumar Pathak, Director Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), J&K; Ms Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director, IGNCA, and members of IGNCA and Vishwasthali organisation were present.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
