In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

SRINAGAR: The Animal Husbandry Department (AHD), Kashmir today flagged off a delegation of progressive farmers for a specialized five-day Inter-State Exposure and Capacity Building Training Programme at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS), Hisar, Haryana. The initiative has been organized under the Agriculture Extension – Support to State Extension Programs for Extension Reforms (ATMA) Scheme.

The flag-off ceremony was conducted by Deputy Director Central, Dr. Reyaz Nazir, in the presence of senior officers and officials of the department from the Directorate Premises at Gaw Kadal, Srinagar.

The training program aims to acquaint local farmers and livestock rearers with advanced scientific management practices, modern breeding techniques, innovative disease management protocols, and high-yielding dairy and livestock production technologies.

During their five-day exposure training, the delegation will participate in interactive technical sessions, practical field demonstrations, and institutional visits to state-of-the-art livestock research and production facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Director Central highlighted that exposure and training programs under the ATMA scheme play a vital role in broadening the horizons of local farmers by exposing them to progressive farming models practiced in other states. He emphasized that such capacity-building initiatives are designed to encourage the adoption of scientific livestock management at the grassroots level, ultimately leading to enhanced productivity, better income generation, and rural self-sustainability across Kashmir.

The participating farmers expressed deep gratitude to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Kashmir for providing them with this platform to learn and adopt modern scientific practices to strengthen their livestock enterprises.
