In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

ANANTNAG: Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Seer Hamdan organised a Cyber Awareness-cum-Hygiene Session for its trainees with the objective of sensitising them about the safe, responsible and secure use of digital technologies.

The session focused on creating awareness among trainees about the importance of cyber hygiene, online safety and adopting responsible digital practices in an increasingly technology-driven world. The initiative aimed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical precautions to protect themselves from cyber threats, online frauds and potential misuse of digital platforms.

The trainees were sensitised about the importance of creating strong passwords, safeguarding their personal and sensitive information, and avoiding the unnecessary sharing of private details on online platforms. They were also advised to exercise caution while accessing unfamiliar websites, downloading applications and interacting with unknown individuals online.

Emphasis was laid on remaining vigilant against suspicious links, fraudulent messages, phishing emails and unauthorised applications that may compromise personal information or lead to financial and digital security risks. The trainees were encouraged to verify the authenticity of online communications before clicking on links, sharing information or downloading files.

The session further highlighted the need to develop responsible digital habits, maintain privacy on social media and use internet-based services judiciously. The trainees were urged to remain alert to emerging cyber threats and follow basic cyber safety measures in their daily lives.

The awareness programme formed part of the institute's efforts to promote digital literacy and ensure that trainees are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital environment safely and responsibly.

The session concluded with an emphasis on the message that cyber security begins with awareness, vigilance and responsible online behaviour, encouraging all trainees to adopt good cyber hygiene practices and contribute towards a safer digital environment.
