JAMMU: As part of the practical aspect of curriculum for Entrepreneurship and New Ventures (NEP 2020), students of M. Com 2nd Semester, P.G. Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, visited the Annual Startup Event “Idea to Impact” hosted at the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Jammu campus in Bari Brahmana. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application by exploring the regional startup ecosystem and understanding the government's role in facilitating new business ventures.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the chief guest of the occasion and other dignitaries emphasized a commitment to reform by streamlining the "Single Window" system to remove bureaucratic barriers. The administration highlighted that the private sector is the primary sustainable solution for regional employment, moving away from a sole reliance on government jobs.

The programme brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, industry experts, start-up founders, and policy makers to share insights on emerging business trends, funding opportunities, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India. Students got apprised of various government schemes, incubation support, and training initiatives aimed at nurturing entrepreneurial talent in the region. Successful start-up founders shared their journeys, motivating students to think beyond conventional career paths and explore self-employment and innovation-driven ventures.

The participation of M. Com students aligned with the academic objective of bridging theoretical knowledge with practical exposure. Dr. Harleen, Teacher in-charge accompanying the students emphasized that such industry-oriented events help in developing critical thinking, business acumen, and a deeper understanding of real-world market dynamics.

Students expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the opportunity, stating that the event broadened their perspective on entrepreneurship and inspired many to consider launching their own ventures in the future. The visit proved to be an educational and motivational experience, reinforcing the importance of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial leadership in today’s competitive economic environment.
