JAMMU: The integration of RuPay credit cards with UPI is transforming the digital payments landscape in India, allowing users to make payments without carrying a physical card. The linking process is simple and can be done through any UPI-enabled app.

To link your RuPay Credit Card to UPI, first, download a UPI-enabled app. Next, register or log in with your bank-linked mobile number and select “Add Account” in the profile section. Then, choose your credit card issuing bank from the list, select your RuPay Credit Card, complete the verification process, and set a UPI PIN. Once done, you can start making seamless transactions.

Further, a RuPay credit card can be used at merchant outlets that accept UPI payments, from small and medium-sized businesses—including kirana stores, street vendors, and local shops—to large establishments, even if they do not have a traditional point-of-sale (POS) terminal.

Users can earn rewards, cashback, and exclusive offers on everyday expenses like groceries, fuel, dining, and online payments. Many banks offer additional benefits for RuPay credit cards linked to UPI, making transactions more rewarding. This feature also improves financial management by tracking credit and debit transactions in one place and supporting automatic payments for bills and subscriptions.

The interest-free period (typically 30-50 days) defined by the bank helps manage cash flow better by deferring payments without interest. Additionally, linking a credit card to UPI enhances security by eliminating the need to share card details, reducing fraud risk, and enabling a separate UPI PIN for added protection.

While this feature offers many benefits, users are advised to follow safety measures like setting strong UPI PINs, making payments only to trusted merchants, and keeping their registered mobile numbers updated. As India moves toward a less-cash economy, RuPay credit cards on UPI are expected to make digital transactions more convenient and beneficial for both consumers and businesses.
