BARAMULLA: As part of its sustained campaign against illegal mining and to protect natural resources, Police in Baramulla conducted a routine checking operation during which two vehicles involved in the unauthorized transportation of mining material were intercepted and seized.
The vehicles seized include a dumper (Registration No. JK02BE-6734) and a tipper (Registration No. JK04A-2260). Upon inspection, both vehicles were found transporting mining material in violation of the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act).
The matter was immediately reported to the Department of Geology & Mining for necessary legal action. Consequently, both vehicles have been seized under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act and detained at the concerned Police Station. Further legal proceedings are underway.
Police reiterates its firm commitment to taking strict action against illegal mining and appeals to the public to support these efforts by reporting any such unlawful activities to the nearest police establishment.
