SRINAGAR: Government Degree College, Ganderbal organized a plantation drive in the college campus on Thursday where students, faculty, and staff collaboratively planted saplings, fostering environmental awareness and a commitment to a greener future. The plantation drive was organized by the college NSS units aimed to raise awareness about the importance of trees and encourage active participation in environmental conservation.

The event was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Prof Fouzia Fatima and she emphasized the importance of tree plantation and its impact on the environment. The NSS program officers Dr. Mansha Nisar and Dr Jamsheeda Akhter supervised the programme under the National service scheme. The plantation drive is a process where a large number of trees or seedlings are planted for land reclamation or landscaping.

Dr Jamsheeda during the plant drive in the college campus said that planting large numbers of trees helps to purify the polluted air that we breathe in. Plants play a big role in our ecosystem by maintaining a balance among all the elements that are present in nature. Planting more trees also helps to keep in check the climate conditions of a place.
