SRINAGAR: A delegation from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar participated in the Indian Youth Parliament 2026, held in Jaipur from 3rd week of September, providing students an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions on youth leadership, democracy, parliamentary dialogue and nation-building.

The delegation was accompanied by Faculty In-Charge Dr. Ashok Kumar and comprised students Abhiraj Das, Janvi Sharma, Lucky, Khushi Arora, Arnav Pal, Shashwat Shandilya, and Muhammad Husaaini.

During the three-day programme, the NIT Srinagar students interacted and exchanged ideas with more than 500 delegates representing 26 states across India. The event provided a platform for young participants to deliberate on contemporary issues, share diverse perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of democratic processes and civic engagement.

The participation also enabled the students to experience parliamentary-style dialogue and interact with fellow young leaders from different parts of the country. Through discussions and exchanges, the delegation gained exposure to diverse viewpoints while representing NIT Srinagar at a national-level youth platform.

The visit was aimed at encouraging students to look beyond conventional classroom learning and engage with wider national conversations on leadership, democracy and the role of youth in nation-building.

The Institute appreciated the participation of its students and faculty members in the Indian Youth Parliament 2026, describing such engagements as valuable opportunities for students to broaden their perspectives, build leadership skills and contribute meaningfully to the nation's youth discourse.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity.
