SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Monday expressed its heartfelt gratitude to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for his compassionate, prompt, and decisive intervention in facilitating the repatriation of the mortal remains of Mohammad Arbaaz Dar from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.

In a statement, the National Spokesperson of the Association, Dr. Zubair Reshi, said that Mohammad Arbaaz Dar, son of Mohammad Altaf Dar and a resident of Kursoo Rajbagh, Srinagar, was working in Dubai with Limes Wood Real Estate Brokers LLC, located at Control Tower, Motor City, Dubai. He was residing at Zenith Towers, Sports City, Dubai.

He further stated that following the unfortunate and untimely demise of the young Kashmiri youth, JKSA immediately took up the matter on an urgent basis and formally wrote to the Ministry of External Affairs, seeking intervention to ensure the swift and dignified return of his mortal remains. Acting on the Association’s representation, the Ministry, under the leadership of Dr. S. Jaishankar, promptly intervened and took up the matter with the concerned authorities, including the Embassy of India in the United Arab Emirates, ensuring that all necessary procedures were expedited.

The Association noted that such cases involve multiple procedural requirements, legal formalities, and coordination between different agencies across jurisdictions. “The sensitivity, efficiency, and seriousness with which the Ministry of External Affairs handled this matter reflect a deep sense of responsibility and empathy towards Indian citizens in distress abroad,” the Association said in a statement.

Following the death, the matter was immediately taken up with the office of External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. Subsequently, Bibuti Nath Pandey, Under Secretary to the External Affairs Minister, assured full assistance and promptly took up the matter with the concerned Embassy of India in Dubai. The employer was asked to engage in the process of repatriation of the mortal remains, and all information and correspondence shared by JKSA were duly conveyed to facilitate the necessary procedures.

All possible assistance was extended in this regard to ensure a smooth and timely repatriation process. The proactive and timely intervention ensured that all logistical and documentation-related challenges were addressed without delay, facilitating a smooth and dignified repatriation process.

With the support and intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs, the mortal remains of Mohammad Arbaaz Dar were successfully repatriated to Srinagar, where he was laid to rest at his native place in accordance with his cultural and religious traditions. This brought much-needed closure, dignity, and solace to the grieving family during an extremely difficult time.

The Association further emphasized that the continued commitment of the Ministry of External Affairs towards the welfare of Indian citizens abroad, particularly during moments of crisis, reinforces public faith in the responsiveness and humanity of institutions. Such compassionate and timely interventions not only ensure procedural facilitation but also uphold dignity in death and provide comfort and support to families navigating unimaginable loss,” the statement added.
