JAMMU: The Department of Political Science at University of Jammu has initiated a significant review of its postgraduate syllabus, proposing the removal of certain topics related to Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Syed Ahmad Khan, and Mohammad Iqbal from its curriculum.

According to an official press note issued by the department, a meeting of the Faculty/Departmental Affairs Committee (DAC) was held on March 22, 2026, at 12:00 noon in the office of the Head of the Department. The meeting focused on reviewing the syllabi of the One-Year and Two-Year M.A. programmes in Political Science in alignment with the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

After detailed deliberations, the committee unanimously recommended the removal of topics concerning Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Syed Ahmad Khan, and Mohammad Iqbal from specific course contents. These changes pertain to course P1PSTC 102 under the One-Year Postgraduate Programme and course P2PSTC 302 under the Two-Year Postgraduate Programme.

The proposal has now been forwarded to the Board of Studies (BOS) for further consideration and approval. A BOS meeting is scheduled for March 24, 2026, at 11:30 AM via online mode, where the matter will be discussed in greater detail before any final decision is made.

The development reflects an ongoing process of curriculum restructuring in line with modern academic frameworks and policy directions. Further updates are expected following the BOS meeting.
