KATHUA: In preparation for the upcoming General Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir, a Voter Awareness Program was organized today at Government High School Ghodal under the Election Commission of India's flagship initiative, Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).

The event was part of SVEEP district plan which aims to engage and motivate young voters, particularly first-time voters, to actively participate in the electoral process.

The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, prominent Panchayat representatives, BLO Supervisors, and BLOs from nearby polling stations. Headmaster Hira Singh interacted with the attendees, urging all eligible voters to cast their votes in large numbers on October 1st, 2024, at their respective polling stations. He emphasized the need for informed and ethical voting to achieve the SVEEP goal of "No Voter to be Left Behind."

The Headmaster provided detailed guidance on voter registration, correction of existing voter details, and the removal of names of shifted or deceased family members from the electoral roll. Voters were encouraged to use the Voter Helpline Number 1950 for assistance and the Voter Helpline App to access comprehensive information about contesting candidates and their political affiliations, allowing them to make informed choices.

The program also witnessed the presence of Sector Officer Sher Singh, and was guided by Nodal Officer SVEEP 65-Basohli Dr. Roshan Lal. The event concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony, where all participants committed to responsible participation in the electoral process.
