SRINAGAR: In an effort to promote financial awareness and empower beneficiaries with essential financial knowledge, Social Welfare Department (SWD)-SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women Srinagar organized a one-day Financial Literacy Facilitation Camp at Kawdara Srinagar under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative.

The camp witnessed active participation from beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes, women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and members of the general public. The programme aimed to educate participants about prudent financial management, savings, banking services, digital payment systems, government-sponsored financial inclusion initiatives, and protection against financial frauds.

During the camp, the staff of SANKALP-HEW Srinagar delivered informative sessions on financial planning, responsible borrowing, digital banking, cyber security, and the benefits of various government welfare and insurance schemes. Participants were also provided guidance on opening bank accounts, accessing social security benefits, and utilizing digital financial services safely and effectively.

Speaking on the occasion, the staff of SANKALP-HEW Srinagar emphasized the importance of financial literacy in enhancing economic self-reliance and informed decision-making, highlighting that financial awareness plays a crucial role in ensuring that beneficiaries are able to effectively utilize welfare benefits and participate in the formal financial system.

The participants appreciated the initiative and clarified their queries related to banking, savings, investments, and government welfare schemes. The District Social Welfare Office Srinagar reiterated its commitment to conducting such awareness programmes in the future to promote financial inclusion and strengthen the socio-economic well-being of vulnerable sections of the society.
