On the occasion, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Bhat highlighted the social security and welfare schemes available for construction workers registered with the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Board. “There is a wide range of welfare schemes offered by the BOCW Board, including financial assistance for chronic diseases, marriage assistance and other welfare schemes aimed at the social and economic well-being of construction workers” he added.

He also urged the workers to enroll for other key social security schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PMSYM) and the Atal Pension Yojana. He appealed to all eligible construction workers to ensure registration and regular renewal with JKBOCWWB to avail benefits under various welfare schemes.  The beneficiaries were advised to check their respective bank accounts for confirmation of the credited amount.
