PULWAMA: Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of illegal mining, Police in Pulwama have acted decisively to curb the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals across the district.

Acting on a specific lead, a police team at a checkpoint established at Newa Market intercepted a vehicle (tipper) bearing registration No. JK01N-9762, driven by Showket Ahmad Parray son of Mohd Subhan Parray resident of Lelhar Kakapora. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with illegally extracted sand. The driver failed to produce any valid permits or legal authorization for the transportation of the material. Taking immediate cognizance of the violation, the vehicle was seized on the spot.

In this regard, FIR No. 61/2026 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and investigation has been set into motion. J&K Police remains firm in its resolve to dismantle the illegal mining network. Citizens are urged to come forward and share any information regarding such activities with the nearest police establishment to help protect our natural resources.
