JAMMU: To strengthen civic infrastructure ahead of the monsoon season, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav today conducted a whirlwind tour of several wards in South Jammu to assess the status of civic amenities and infrastructure within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation.

During the visit, the Commissioner visited the areas including Green Belt, Gandhi Nagar, and Ambedkar Nagar and took stock of the drainage systems and identified key water-logging points to ensure timely mitigation of flood risks and public inconvenience during the forthcoming rainy season. The visit was aimed at reviewing preparedness and taking corrective measures wherever necessary.

Dr. Yadav reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to ensuring improved sanitation, enhanced public health standards, and comprehensive monsoon preparedness with active cooperation from citizens and stakeholders. He also stressed for desilting of drains and nallahs  and removal of  broken  pipes  with  coordination with line departments on war footing basis.

Earlier, Dr. Yadav also visited the Urban Forestry Division Nursery at Talab Tillo, Jammu, where DFO Urban Jammu, Ashwani Kumar Mittal, apprised him of the developmental works undertaken under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). The Commissioner was informed that the capacity of the nursery is being upgraded to accommodate 1.5 lakh saplings.
