KULGAM: In a major action against narcotic cultivation, J&K Police, in coordination with the concerned departments, carried out a massive anti-drug operation and destroyed cannabis (bung) cultivation spread over approximately 350 kanals of land across different areas in Kulgam.

The operation was conducted under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam, Shri Sahil Sarangal, and led by officers and personnel of various police stations, assisted by teams from the revenue, excise, and other concerned departments.

During the extensive drive, large-scale cultivation of bung and poppy plants was identified and subsequently destroyed on the spot in multiple locations including Behibagh, Qazigund, Devsar, Mirbazar, Yaripora, DH Pora, Kund, Manzgam, Kulgam, and Qaimoh. During the operation, cannabis plants cultivated over an estimated area of 350 kanals were destroyed. SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal, while appreciating the joint efforts of all participating teams, reaffirmed that J&K Police is fully committed to ensuring a drug-free society.

The action has been widely appreciated by local residents, who hailed the J&K police for their decisive and sustained efforts against the menace of drugs. The general public has also appealed to the authorities to continue such drives in the adjoining areas to completely eliminate the threat of narcotic cultivation from the district.
