Warn Brick Kiln Owners & local residents of legal consequences

SHOPIAN: Following the directions of the Excise Commissioner J&K, Subash Chander Chibber and under the supervision of Dy. Excise Commissioner Executive Kashmir, Tazayun Mukhtar, Excise Range South Kashmir conducted a series of raids at brick kilns located in Safnagri area of Tehsil Zainapora District Shopian.

During the raid, the team recovered 147 litres of Lahan adjacent to one of the brick kilns on State land which was destroyed on spot by the Excise Team. The owners of the brick kilns were warned of severe legal repercussions associated with illicit production and distillation.

In addition to the enforcement action, the senior citizens of the locality were sensitized regarding the social and health hazards of illicit liquor. This operation underscores the commitment of the J&k Excise Department to curb the illegal production and distribution of illicit liquor in the region.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
