JAMMU: As part of the ongoing Clean Jammu Green Jammu campaign, a large-scale plantation drive was conducted today in Sector 4 Nagar Vatika Upper Roopnagar. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the girl students of Women College Parade, who actively planted a variety of saplings, contributing to the city’s green cover.

Local residents of Roopnagar, officials from Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Urban Forestry Division Jammu, and Swachhata Volunteers also joined the drive, demonstrating strong community support for environmental conservation.

The campaign, spearheaded by Jammu Municipal Corporation and Urban Forestry Division Jammu, aims to make Jammu greener by involving citizens from all walks of life. A unique feature of the campaign is the adoption of saplings, where a QR code is affixed in the name of the individual who adopts and cares for the plant.

Running till 15th August, the campaign has set an ambitious target of planting 60,000 saplings across the city. The departments are making sustained efforts to involve political parties, social service organizations, schools, colleges, universities, students and Swachhata Champions in this noble cause.

Prominent dignitaries present at today’s event included Dr. Kumar M.K., IFS, CCF Jammu, O.P. Sharma, IFS (Retd.), CCF, Pradeep Chandra Wahuli, IFS, Ashwani Kumar Mittal, Divisional Forest Officer Urban Jammu, Rabia Khan, AFO, JMC, Dr. Divya Sharma, IEC Incharge JMC, R.K.
