DODA: A comprehensive Civil Defence Mock Drill featuring an Air Raid Simulation and Blackout Exercise was successfully conducted today across Doda Township to assess preparedness and enhance public awareness regarding emergency response mechanisms.

The exercise was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal and was attended by ADC Anil Kumar Thakur; ASP Headquarters Mohammad Aslam; Tehsildar Dr. Subuh Ahmed Shad, SHO and representatives from various line departments.

The drill commenced with the sounding of a siren from the local Clock Tower, marking the onset of a simulated air raid situation. Coordinated mock operations were executed at multiple locations including Government Boys HSS Doda, Bus Stand, Bharath Road Y Junction, Nagri area, GMC, DPL Helipad and other vital road stretches. The exercise focused on testing real-time response, inter-agency coordination and communication systems under emergency conditions.

During the drill, crucial emergency response measures such as search and rescue operations, evacuation of civilians, first aid and medical response, fire control, traffic management and crowd regulation were demonstrated effectively. A complete blackout exercise was also observed across the district from 8:00 PM to 8:05 PM, with active cooperation from the public highlighting awareness and community participation in disaster preparedness initiatives.

Personnel from NCC, NDRF, Fire and Emergency Services, Health Department, Police and Municipal authorities actively participated in the exercise, showcasing prompt response and operational efficiency.

The District Administration reiterated that such mock drills play a vital role in identifying gaps, improving coordination among stakeholders and equipping both officials and the public with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively during real emergencies. Continued awareness campaigns, capacity-building programmes and community involvement were also emphasized to further strengthen disaster resilience in the district.
