BANDIPORA: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Bandipora district marked the conclusion of the two-week long Sewa Parv and Swachhta Hi Seva 2025, celebrated with enthusiasm and wide community participation.

Across the fortnight campaign, cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and cultural activities were organized, focusing on sanitation, plastic-free markets, conservation of water bodies, and source segregation of waste.

In Sumbal, drives were conducted at the Municipal Office, Jhelum waterbodies, President Sumo Stand, and Main Bazar, along with awareness programmes by WUCMA and a painting competition on waste segregation.

On the closing day, Safai Mitras and student volunteers were felicitated for their selfless contribution, reflecting the true spirit of Seva and Swachhta. As part of the conclusion, Special Gram Sabhas were organized across all tribal Panchayats of Bandipora district, providing a platform for citizen participation and review of welfare schemes.

At Kudara, Deputy Commissioner,  Indu Kanwal Chib presided over a Gram Sabha under the Aadi Karam Yogi Abhiyan, directly engaging with the public and reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive and responsive governance. The fortnight-long campaign in Bandipora and across the nation echoed Gandhiji’s ideals of dignity in labour, public participation, and collective responsibility. With the spirit of “Swachhta is Seva, Seva is Swabhiman,” Bandipora district continues its journey towards a cleaner, healthier, and more responsible society.

A Profound Loss: JK Monitor Mourns the Passing of Founding Chairman Dr. Priya Ranjan

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
