SRINAGAR: In a significant step towards strengthening technology-driven agricultural data collection, the Department of Agriculture, Kashmir, organized a one-day training programme on the AI-Enabled Crop Survey Application for District Master Trainers at the Mission Directorate Hall, Rajbagh, Srinagar.

The training programme, conducted by experts from the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU), Government of India, was aimed at equipping District Master Trainers with the technical knowledge and practical skills required for the effective implementation of the AI-enabled crop survey application across the Kashmir Division.

The programme featured comprehensive technical sessions on AI-based crop survey methodology, operation of the mobile application, geo-tagging, image capture protocols, data validation, quality assurance, and real-time reporting. Participants also underwent hands-on training to familiarize themselves with field-level operational procedures and best practices for conducting accurate and transparent crop surveys.

District Master Trainers representing all districts of the Kashmir division actively participated in the programme and interacted with CPMU experts to gain a deeper understanding of the application’s features and its role in improving the reliability of crop survey data. The adoption of Artificial Intelligence in crop surveys is expected to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and transparency of agricultural statistics, thereby facilitating informed planning and policy decisions.

Speaking on the occasion, senior officers emphasized that the successful implementation of the AI-enabled crop survey application will play a vital role in modernizing agricultural data collection and ensuring timely, scientific, and evidence-based assessment of crops across the region. The participants were urged to effectively disseminate the knowledge gained during the training to field-level survey teams for the smooth rollout of the initiative.

The programme was attended by Joint Director Mushroom, and other senior officers of the Department who reaffirmed the department’s commitment to leveraging modern technologies for strengthening agricultural governance and improving service delivery to the farming community.
