  • Sat Sharma stresses India’s deep-rooted cultural, civilizational connect with nature

AKHNOOR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, led by its President Sat Sharma (CA), organized a special plantation drive under the ongoing Seva Pakhwada in Akhnoor. 75 plants each were planted in three different parks as part of a campaign to mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, symbolizing the vision of the PM to create a greener, cleaner and healthier India.

J&K BJP Vice-President Rashpaul Verma, DDC Vice-Chairperson Suraj Singh, Kissan Morcha President Rakesh Pant, District Prabhari Akhnoor Vinay Gupta, District President Akhnoor Kuldeep Raj Sharma, DDCs Suresh Sharma & Bhushan Bral, former MLA Rajeev Sharma, SC Morcha Seh-Prabhari Jagdish Bhagat, District Seh-Prabhari Vaishno Devi, Ex BDC Sushma, Jugal Dogra, and others were also present on the occasion.

The three parks, containing a blend of fruit-bearing trees, flowering species, and medicinal plants, were established at Panchayat Mattua under the guidance of DDC Vice-Chairperson Suraj Singh, at Village Nardiwala, Mehra Mandrian under the supervision of DDC Suresh Sharma, and at Bhalwal Brahmana under the supervision of DDC Bhushan Bral.

Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and civilizational connection of India with nature. He said that our traditions have always worshipped trees and plants, recognizing them as the very basis of life. From Tulsi to Peepal, from Neem to Banyan, Indian culture has revered nature as divine. He said that Prime Minister Modi has consistently emphasized increasing green cover, not only to fight climate change but also to protect the rich biodiversity of our land. He stressed that these plantations are a tribute to his vision of a sustainable and healthier future for the generations to come.

Rashpal Verma underlined the role of plants in human survival, adding that without greenery, there is no life. He said that these initiatives strengthen the chain of life on earth. Suraj Singh said that the establishment of the park at Panchayat Marua reflects our commitment to protecting the environment through people’s participation.

District President Akhnoor Kuldeep Raj Sharma expressed the commitment of BJP Akhnoor to participate in the green and healthy campaign of BJP on the call of PM Modi. Suresh Sharma emphasized that the medicinal and fruit-bearing plants remind us of the treasure India has always possessed, from the Himalayas to the southern coast.

Bhushan Bral remarked that every sapling planted today carries the promise of cleaner air and healthier surroundings. Rajeev Sharma said that this initiative reflects our cultural ethos where every plant and tree is seen as a guardian of life.
