JAMMU: In order to facilitate the electoral participation of Kashmiri migrants, special camps were organised for the Pre-Revision Activities and Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls as of July 1, 2024. These camps were set up across various cities in India, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, New Delhi, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Pune, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

A dedicated team comprising eight officers and 16 officials, constituted by Dr. Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K, executed these camps in line with the directions of the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K. The initiative saw a significant turnout, with over 1,200 forms received on the spot. Alongside the summary revision, awareness about various government schemes was disseminated. Notably, around 850 cards were generated under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

Within the Union Territory of J&K, teams of Zonal Officers, Relief Assistants and Booth Level Officers were tasked with conducting pre-revision activities and the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, as per the schedule notified by the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K. These teams will be available at their respective stations on special campaign dates, namely July 27, July 28, August 3 and August 4, 2024, to address any issues regarding the revision of the electoral roll.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity.
