JAMMU: In a demonstration of solidarity and protest, the BJP Mahila Morcha of Jammu and Kashmir organized a silent candle march to condemn the horrific rape of a trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The event was led by the president of Mahila Morcha J&K, Sangita Dogra, who has consistently championed the cause of women’s rights and safety.

The candle march commenced from the BJP Office at Kachhi Chawni and proceeded to Janana Park, with a significant turnout of women and citizens from across the region. Participants walked in silence, with candles in hands a symbol of grief for the victim and a  demand for justice.

Addressing the gathering, Sangita Dogra, expressed her deep anguish and outrage over the incident. "This heinous crime is not just an attack on an individual but on the entire womanhood. We stand united against such atrocities and demand that the perpetrators be brought to justice without delay. Our candle march is a peaceful yet powerful way to show our solidarity with the victim and to remind the authorities that justice delayed is justice denied," she said.

Dogra also emphasized the need for stronger laws and their strict enforcement to prevent such crimes in the future. "We are committed to creating a safe environment for every woman in this country. Today’s march sends a clear message that women are not alone; the BJP Mahila Morcha will always stand by them in their time of need," she added.

The march had the participation of BJP Vice President and Mahila Morcha Incharge Anuradha Charak, along with BJP Secretary and Co-Incharge, Veenu Khanna. Their participation underscored the party's collective commitment to addressing issues of women's safety and ensuring that such incidents are not tolerated.

The march concluded at Janana Park, where participants observed a moment of silence in memory of the victim. This candle march is part of a larger nationwide initiative by the BJP to ensure justice for the victim and to raise awareness about the importance of women's safety across the nation.

Through this peaceful protest, the BJP Mahila Morcha has once again reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the cause of women's rights, highlighting the urgent need for justice and safety for women in every corner of the country.

A large number of BJP Mahila Morcha workers participated in the candle march, including prominent members such as Reema Padha, Neha Mahajan, Prerna Nanda, Usha Rajput, Suman Raina, Anita Gandotra, Savita Anand, Chakshu Kapoor, Poonam Gupta, and others.
