JAMMU: JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School held a Special Assembly for the  Senior students with a focus on the most controversial issues like 'Violence Against Women as Violation of Human Rights '.

The aim of this Assembly was to aware the students about the escalating wave of violence againstwomen in India which has consistently shaken our collective conscience. The need of the hour is to empower the young minds to stand against the staggering rise in crimes which demands immediate and decisive  action.

The assembly began with a solemn moment of silence. Following this, the  Principal of the school addressed the gathering, emphasizing the prospect of creating safer environment for women and children by uplifting dignity and respect for women. She said that this measure would reflect a societal shift towards greater respect and protection for women and ensuring that they can live without fear within their own communities.

Students from various grades delivered impassioned speeches, sharing their thoughts  and the role  young people can play in bringing about this change.

Some students spoke about the importance of consent, respect, and the need to challenge harmful stereotypes that contribute to rape culture. Others shared personal reflections on how media, society, and education can help in combating rape culture and fostering a safe environment . Some laid stress on building attitudinal change and a change in the mindset which can play a vital role in preventing sexual violence against women. The event also included a performance by the school’s drama club, depicting the emotional andpsychological impact of rape on survivors and their families.
