POONCH: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today interacted with the residents of Qazi Mohra and Jhulas and took stock of the issues and concerns being faced by them, particularly in the aftermath of recent flash floods and landslides.

During his interaction at Qazi Mohra, the residents highlighted the extensive damage caused to public infrastructure due to the recent floods and demanded immediate restoration of the affected areas. They apprised the Minister of the difficulties being faced by the people due to damage to roads, water supply infrastructure and other essential services.

The Minister gave a patient hearing to the residents and assured them that the government is committed to ensure timely restoration of damaged infrastructure and extend necessary support to the affected population.

Thereafter, the Minister held a public interaction at Jhulas, where the people projected various development-related issues and demands. The residents raised concerns regarding shortage of drinking water, damage to irrigation infrastructure and restoration of water supply schemes affected by the recent floods.

The people also apprised the Minister of the issues pertaining to implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), seeking effective settlement and protection of the legitimate rights of forest-dwelling communities.

Javed Rana assured the people that all the issues raised during the interaction would be examined on priority and taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate and time-bound action. He reiterated that resolution of public grievances and restoration of essential infrastructure damaged by the recent floods remain among the government’s foremost priorities.

The Minister assured the residents that issues concerning forest-dwelling communities and implementation of the Forest Rights Act would be addressed in accordance with the applicable provisions and in the spirit of safeguarding the legitimate rights of the people.

He emphasised that regular interaction with the public is essential for understanding ground-level issues and ensuring that development and restoration measures are aligned with the immediate needs of the people.
