KATRA: Dr. Indu Bhushan, Assistant Professor at the School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, delivered an invited talk at the prestigious International Conference on Innovations in Biotechnology for Sustainability. The conference, organized byJawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Biotechnology Research Society of India, witnessed the participation of nearly 400 delegates from India andabroad.

Dr. Bhushan’s talk, titled "Industrial Potential of Biosynthesised Nanoparticles",highlighted cutting-edge advancements in the synthesis of nanoparticles using biologicalmethods and their industrial applications. His presentation received enthusiastic responsesfrom the audience, fostering discussions on the sustainability and scalability of suchtechnologies.

In addition to delivering the invited talk, Dr. Bhushan chaired a session andserved as an evaluator for the poster presentations, providing valuable insights andconstructive feedback to the participants. Dr. Bhushan, thanked Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar,Vice-Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University for allowing and encouraging him toattend the said conference.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
