  • Directs early, permanent measures

‎‎RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the progress of restoration works undertaken by the Civil, Mechanical and Ground Water wings of Jal Shakti Department in the district.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the restoration status and sought updates from the concerned officers regarding the works undertaken in the aftermath of the recent flash floods and resultant damage to water supply infrastructure.

‎‎The officers briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the progress achieved so far and the measures being taken to restore affected water supply schemes and associated infrastructure. The DC directed the concerned officers to expedite the ongoing restoration works.

‎Emphasising the need to move beyond temporary arrangements, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure permanent restoration of damaged infrastructure. He asked the officers to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for the required permanent restoration works so that these can be taken up in a planned and sustainable manner.

‎The Deputy Commissioner stressed that restoration works must be undertaken after proper assessment of the damage and with due consideration to the vulnerability of the affected infrastructure to future natural calamities. He called for close monitoring of the progress of works and effective inter-departmental coordination to ensure timely completion.

‎‎He also directed the Irrigation and Flood Control authorities to formulate and implement long-term mitigation measures in vulnerable areas to minimise the impact of flash floods and safeguard critical infrastructure in the future.

‎‎The DC reiterated that uninterrupted drinking water supply remains a priority and directed the officers to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to provide relief to affected areas while permanent restoration works are being planned and executed.

‎‎The meeting was attended by SE Jal Shakti Rajouri, Sunil Kumar Bhat; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Rajouri, Zulfikar Ali; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Nowshera; besides other concerned officers.
