JAMMU: In a spirited display of national pride and unity, the Central University of Jammu under the patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor has actively participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, a significant initiative under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This nationwide campaign, aimed at celebrating India's 78th Independence Day on August 15, 2024, highlights the importance of national unity and the spirit of freedom.

Dr. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Student’s welfare, Dr. Sujata Kundan, NSS Coordinator; Dr. Kiran PO 1 NSS; and Dr. Rajan Badyal, Public Relations Officer, Central University of Jammu, led a dynamic team of NSS volunteers to distribute the national flag (Tiranga) in the nearby village of Suchani today. The initiative was warmly received by the local community, with enthusiastic participation in displaying the national flag at their homes.

The campaign underscores the collective pride and commitment to the nation’s values, encouraging every household to join in the Independence Day celebrations. By fostering a deeper connection to the nation’s history and freedom fighters, this initiative serves as a tribute to their sacrifices and contributions.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity.
