BUDGAM: The Debates/Seminar Committee in collaboration with NSS Unit Monday organised an awareness program on the three new criminal laws. The college Principal, Dr Nargis Bano, in her address, highlighted the significance of organizing such programs for inculcating a civic culture among the students. Earlier, the program began with a welcome address presented by committee convener Prof. Naheed Shafi. She sensitized students about the aims and objectives of new criminal laws.

Dr. Sajad Padder, NSS Programme Officer and Assistant Prof. of Political Science, spoke on the new criminal laws - the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. He particularly focused on aspects like transparency and accountability, fighting crimes against women and use of technology under the new laws.

Three college students Burhan Ali, Imran Farooq and Saima Majeed also presented their perspectives on the topic. The program ended with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Naheed.
