RAMBAN: Chief Animal Husbandry Ramban, Dr. Suhail Kawoosa, distributed Artificial Insemination (AI) kits, Cryo-containers and other associated equipments to newly trained Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technicians in Rural India (MAITRIs) at a function organized here today at Chief Animal Husbandry Office Complex, Ramban.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary urged the AI workers and Agro departments to work together in the line of holistic development of Animal Husbandry, leveraging Artificial Insemination techniques to boost farmers' economy and their status.

CAHO said that to meet the requirement of trained Artificial Insemination technicians in rural areas, the training and induction of MAITRIs has been undertaken under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). Through MAITRIs, timely AI services shall be delivered at farmer’s doorsteps, thereby covering the inaccessible areas of the district.

The CAHO further stated that MAITRIs are nominated from amongst the unemployed educated youth across different panchayats of the district and are trained at accredited AI training institutes for at least 03 months as per the module developed by Govt. of India.

He further said that besides providing boost to the breed improvement in local cattle through AI services, MAITRIs shall also gain sustainable self-employment avenues to earn their livelihood by getting honorarium in lieu of discharging prescribed services in their respective areas of work.

The function among others was also attended by Dr Naseer Ah Mir (Technical officer) and Dr Rayees Ah Bafanda (Mobile Veterinary Officer) and other officials of the department.
