The National Lok Adalat aims to provide an effective platform for the amicable settlement of various civil and criminal compoundable cases, including appeals arising out of such matters. The initiative seeks to ensure speedy disposal of pending cases and facilitate amicable resolution of disputes through mutual consent.

The Lok Adalat offers litigants an opportunity to settle their disputes with the assistance of judicial officers, advocates and experts. The process is simple, cost-effective and designed to promote harmony and reconciliation among parties.

The benefits of settlement through Lok Adalat include speedy disposal of cases, refund of court fees, reduction in litigation costs, final and binding awards with no provision for appeal, preservation of relationships and a mutually beneficial outcome for all concerned parties.

According to DLSA Ganderbal, the National Lok Adalat will take up a wide range of pre-litigation and pending cases permissible under the Legal Services Authorities Act and Regulations. These include civil cases, criminal compoundable cases, matters under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, money recovery cases, motor accident claim cases, labour disputes, disputes relating to public utility services (excluding non-compoundable matters), matrimonial disputes (except divorce cases), family disputes, execution petitions, land acquisition cases, service and pension matters, revenue and ancillary matters, intellectual property rights (IPR) cases, consumer disputes, particularly insurance claims, as well as matters pending before quasi-judicial authorities and revenue courts.

The DLSA Ganderbal has invited litigants, advocates and members of the general public to avail themselves of this opportunity and settle their disputes amicably. The Authority urged all stakeholders to actively participate in the National Lok Adalat and contribute towards fostering a culture of peace, harmony and reconciliation.

People desirous of settling their pending or pre-litigation disputes through the National Lok Adalat have been advised to approach the District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal, Tehsil Legal Services Committees at Ganderbal and Kangan, or the concerned courts on or before August 31, 2026, for referring their cases to the National Lok Adalat.
