JAMMU: The International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, organised an industrial visit for MBA (Semester II & IV) students to VKC Nuts Pvt. Ltd., an ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP certified company.

The visit was organised with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry and to provide real-time exposure to MBA (International Business) students. It aimed at acquainting the students with industrial practices, particularly in understanding the export mechanisms of corporations.

VKC Nuts has a worldwide network for imports and exports, with deep penetration in the domestic nut and dried fruit trade across wholesale, distribution, institutional, and organised retail sectors. The company also keeps pace with modern and emerging trends in the food and retail sectors across India and abroad. The state-of-the-art facility operates under the supervision of its Head, Mr. Gagan Jain, whose team deliberated upon the various products manufactured by the company and their export potential, which extends to over 10 countries worldwide.

During the visit, the students were familiarised with key aspects such as Total Quality Management, assembly line manufacturing, warehousing, international import-export procedures, and international quality standards.

Professor Hardeep Chahal, Director, ICccR & HRM, expressed satisfaction over the initiative and emphasised the need to translate academia-industry interaction into a sustained model of international business pedagogy, enabling students to relate their academic knowledge with corporate and entrepreneurial functioning. The industrial visit was organised by Dr. Isha Sharma and Dr. Parul Mahajan, faculty members of ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu.
