JAMMU: Reasi Campus, University of Jammu, organized a one-day Induction Programme on Wednesday for the first-semester postgraduate students of the one-year and two-year M.A. Sociology Programme for the Academic Session 2026–27. The programme aimed to familiarize the newly admitted students with the academic environment, curriculum, and campus culture.

The programme commenced with a presentation by Dr. Nisha Sharma, who provided a comprehensive overview of the University of Jammu and the Reasi Campus, highlighting its academic programmes, facilities, and institutional vision.

Welcoming the students, Director, Reasi Campus, Prof. Sushil K. Pandey extended his greetings and assured them of the campus's commitment to providing quality teaching, a conducive learning environment, and comfortable residential facilities. He encouraged the students to actively participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities alongside their academic pursuits, emphasizing that the development of both hard and soft skills is essential for overall personality development and future success.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Pandey also highlighted the significance of the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Government. Students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff took a pledge to abstain from drug use and to organize awareness programmes aimed at making Reasi district drug-free. He urged the students to remain enthusiastic, disciplined, and proactive in every academic and campus activity.

Dr. Ravi Kumar presented the academic curriculum of the M.A. Sociology Programme in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, explaining its structure, objectives, and learning outcomes.

The programme was further enriched by the presence of Ms. Shanu Devi, Superintendent, Child Care Institution, Parisha Home, Reasi, Social Welfare Department, and an alumna of the Reasi Campus. She shared her experiences as a student of the campus and motivated the newly admitted students through an interactive session.
