SOPORE AND ANANTNAG: In continuation of the ongoing enforcement drive under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police, in coordination with the Drug Control authorities, have taken further stringent action against illegal pharmaceutical practices in Sopore and Anantnag.

In Sopore, during a joint inspection at Dangerpora and Sopore, two chemist shops were found in violation of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. The shops were being run by Sameer Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Rajab Dar resident of Dangerpora, and Ghulam Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Sopore. Acting promptly, the Drug Inspector sealed both premises on the spot after following due legal procedure and legal action has been initiated against the proprietors under relevant provisions of law.

In Anantnag, during the joint checking, one medical establishment M/S Standard Medical Store, located near SDH Bijbehara and owned by Bilal Ahmad Dar was found violating prescribed SOPs. The shop was not maintaining proper sale/purchase records of certain scheduled drugs in contravention of licensing conditions and regulatory guidelines. Taking immediate cognizance, the concerned team sealed the medical store on the spot.

Police reiterated that no unlicensed or non-compliant medical store will be allowed to operate, and any violation involving illegal sale or storage of medicines or psychotropic substances will invite strict and immediate legal action. Police reaffirmed their commitment to strict enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to curb misuse of drugs and ensure a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
