JAMMU: National Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm under the banner of the J&K Sports Council at K.K Hakku Stadium, with the aim of promoting sports, fitness, discipline and healthy lifestyle among the youth.

The occasion was graced by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar as the chief guest. Monish Kumar, SO attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The event was organized under the guidance of D.S.O Bashir Ahmed and Manager K.K Hakku Stadium Ajay Gupta.

A series of sports activities were organised to mark National Sports Day, witnessing enthusiastic participation from athletes, coaches, officials and sports enthusiasts. The chief guest interacted with the players and encouraged them to participate actively in sports and make physical fitness an integral part of their lives. He highlighted the important role of sports in developing discipline, confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship among the younger generation.

The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the J&K Sports Council in promoting sports culture and providing opportunities and platforms to budding sportspersons. The celebration concluded with the inspiring message “Stay Fit, Stay Active and Make Sports a Way of Life.” Pawandeep Kaur, Sr. Athletic Coach and other coaches/officials attended the celebration.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
