RAMBAN: Motor Vehicles Department today organised a Road Safety Awareness Programme at a private school in Banihal, under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan. ARTO Varun Bhasin sensitized students and staff to traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing the importance of wearing seatbelt and helmet while driving. He also highlighted the dangers of rash driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants, urging students to spread awareness in society about responsible road behaviour and strict adherence to traffic norms.

The participants were encouraged to act as ambassadors of both road safety and anti-drug awareness by educating their families and communities about avoiding traffic violations and substance abuse. Later, the Motor Vehicles Department team conducted a safety audit of school buses operating at the institution to assess compliance with prescribed safety standards.

The school authorities were directed to ensure strict adherence to all transport safety guidelines in letter and spirit for the safety of students. The initiative reflects the district administration’s continued commitment towards promoting road safety and strengthening the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan across Ramban district.
